Our generation, gen z, has lots of things that you may not understand. That’s gonna change starting now as I teach you the slang, apps, and trends that have taken our generation by storm!
A key to understandin our generation is understanding what comes out of our mouths half the time. I'm here to teach you right now!
Cap: lying. When people say “no cap” they mean they aren’t lying.
Boujee: someone or something that is lavish in taste
Low-key: subtle, not obvious
On fleek: good, or even perfect, usually referring to style
Salty: angry or upset
Squad: group of friends
Tea: gossip
Dope: cool
Shook: surprised
Wack: that sucks or bad
Yeet: usually a word accompanying a throw of some kind

Snapchat: The most hip app ever!
Snapchat is a social media site that allows you to send pictures (snaps) or messages. (chats) Here’s the kicker: your normal posts are on a story that disappears in 24 hours. (this happens with snaps and chats that aren’t saved as well) The thing that sets it apart from every other app, however, is the discover section. You can see what celebs, independent creators, and all of your friends are up to! Now isn’t that just so dope?
Tiktok: lip sync, dance, and sing!!
The newest app sweeping the nation (and stealing our information) is TikTok! TikTok is a re-branded version of an old app called musical.ly. It’s a place where people lip-sync, create dance trends to certain songs, and generally post videos. It’s similar to youtube, but the videos are generally less than a minute. Like YouTube, it has a featured and followed page, but nothing else. (except for a direct message section)

Tiktok-mostly dances: A creator posts a dance that they made to a song on tiktok, and people create their own videos of themselves doing the dance and post! It usually even spreads to celebrities! Wow!

Blue-light glasses: helps reduce the negative effects of screens on our eyes
Disney+: Netflix but with all things Disney!
